A Bit About Our Horses At Greenbriar

The instructors at Greenbriar Riding Academy have several different criteria for matching students and their horses, such as the experience and size of the rider, and temperament and performance of the horse.  Although students may have a favorite, they will be assigned different horses as their experience increases, so they can become familiar with and understand the differences each new mount presents.

It takes a special horse or pony to become a Greenbriar school horse.  Here are some who have made the grade:

Abby

This 2006 QH filly has a terrific temperament and willingly does what’s asked of her.    AKA the “Yes, ma’am” girl.   She’s quickly becoming a favorite for the student trail rides.

Jack images/Jack.jpg (55418 bytes)

2002 sire of ‘Ravyn’, ‘Soren’ & ‘Bravo’.    Now a gelding, Jack has moved on to his second career as a lesson horse.   He’s one of our top jumping horses and reserved for our intermediate and advanced riders.   He’s a joy to ride in the arena or on the trails.

Trigger

Born in the1980’s he’s the “Perfect Pony”.   He is one of the favorites among our young riders.  Trigger joined us in 2003 and has given hundreds of students their first ride.

Ravyn images/Ravyn.jpg (54869 bytes)

She’s the baby of the barn!   This QH filly is out of Pal by Jack.   She looks like her daddy and acts like her mamma.   Born in 2008, we’ll get to watch her grow up.

Kessie images/Kessie.jpg (1912484 bytes)

Our other “Perfect Pony” from the 1980’s.   She’s been at Greenbriar since 2003.  You’ll see her in the Pee Wee Pony Camps as well as in lessons.   She also gives many young riders their first riding experience.

Thunder images/Thunder.jpg (40545 bytes)

A great all around horse, he teaches beginner through advanced riders.  He's a real favorite in lessons and on the trails.  Although not spotted, this 2002 Paint is owned by Riley Ballantyne.  She calls him her gorgeous boy!

Earl images/Earl.jpg (40545 bytes)

2003 QH gelding.  Earl is the ‘Leader of the Pack’ in the boys’ pasture.  He’s a great trail horse, but he’ll keep you on your toes in the arena.  Very smart!

Bravo images/Bravo-09.jpg (40545 bytes)

A QH gelding born in 2007, he’s a son of Jack.  He’s got a playful, kind personality.  We’re looking forward to training him this fall.
